Over the past few days, God has been speaking to me about so many different facets of my life. He's actually been giving me a good swift kick in the hindquarters about where I need to do better and some changes I need to make. He spoke to me this morning and the U2 song 'Where the Streets Have No Name' plays into what He said to my soul. The reason I bring up this song is, for whatever reason, I've been singing it for the past few days but hadn't realized it, or put two and two together until right now. The funny thing is, this song was popular when I was in High School and I remember the video for it, but I never owned the album or was much of a U2 fan. Now, I don't want to debate whether or not Bono is a priest or anything like that. I only want to call attention to the lyrics of this song and how they have spoken to me:
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name
I want to feel, sunlight on my face
See that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building
Then burning down love, burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you...
(It's all I can do)
The cities a flood
And our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled into dust
I'll show you a place
High on ta desert plain
Where the streets have no name
When I read these lines and listen to the song, I hear the hero of our story, God, calling me out into something bigger, something larger, and something without limits. It's as if He is telling me,
"Look, you are to settled into your mundane spiritual existence. Come with me, step out and I'll show you a place where you can flourish."
I don't know where that place is or what the name of it is and thus, it's a place where the streets have no name. You're calling, I'm listening, lead me there Lord.

One of my favorite two U2 songs--the other is Pride (in the name of love). Give that a listen if you can.
God uses many different things to speak to us, and these lyrics are pretty powerful.
I listened to The Joshua Tree ad nauseum as a teen - it was one of my favorite albums then, and I still enjoy it today. And then to see U2 perform live in the early 90's was pretty special.
Good post, bro...
